Refer a Client to 4 Healing Center
Connect Someone With Specialized, Trauma-Informed Care.
Thank you for considering 4 Healing Center as a resource for your clients, patients, students, or community members. We provide trauma-informed mental health services with particular expertise in EMDR and animal-assisted services.
We know making a referral is about more than finding an available therapist. It is about finding a provider who can meet the individual’s needs and help them feel comfortable taking the next step. Our team is happy to help determine whether 4 Healing Center may be an appropriate fit.
Why Refer to 4 Healing Center?
Specialized trauma care
Our practice has extensive experience working with trauma and its effects.
EMDR expertise
EMDR is not simply one service on a long list of modalities, it is an important area of specialization within our practice.
Animal-assisted options
For clients who may benefit, animals can offer another avenue for connection and engagement within therapy.
Individualized treatment
Treatment is based on each client’s needs, goals, history, and readiness rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
In-person and telehealth care
We offer options to help clients access treatment in the format that is appropriate for them.
Have a Question?
Not Sure Whether EMDR Is the Right Fit?
That’s okay. Your referral doesn’t need to determine the treatment.
A client does not need to arrive knowing that they need EMDR, animal-assisted therapy, or a particular therapeutic approach. Our clinicians can assess their individual needs and work collaboratively with them to develop an appropriate treatment plan.
Sometimes the most important part of a referral is simply helping someone take the first step.
Referring From an Agency or Organization?
We welcome referrals from:
Mental health professionals • Medical providers • Schools • Community organizations • Case managers • Clergy and faith communities • Employee assistance programs • Other helping professionals
If your organization regularly refers individuals for trauma treatment or EMDR, we would be happy to come meet your team and provide information about 4 Healing Center’s services.
What We Do at 4 Healing Center
What We Offer
- 4 Healing Center provides therapy for individuals ages 8 and older.
- Our clinic offers outpatient mental health services to individuals, groups, and families.
- Our therapists are skilled in working with people of all gender identities individually, with their partners, as a parenting team, and as a whole family.
- Our therapists help adolescents learn to express themselves in a productive way, how to have positive communication, regulate emotions, tolerate distress, and learn life skills corresponding to certain developmental milestones.
- The elderly are often a forgotten segment of our society, yet face many specific challenges, such as the loss of their significant other or friends, loss of mobility, end of life issues, etc. Our therapists can help these clients with these anxious and depressing times.
Marriage and family therapy
- John Gottman once said: “Successful long-term relationships are created through small words, small gestures, and small acts.” Sometimes it is hard work to live with and love those we are related to. Our therapists can help mend broken relationships and teach communication skills.
Group Therapy
- If your office or facility’s clients could benefit from a group, please let us know! We are always creating new groups at 4 Healing Center.
Therapy Modalities We Offer
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
- TF-CBT is a therapy that parents and children can learn and use together. It is evidence-based and may reduce symptoms of trauma. Children and their families learn new skills to help work through difficult feelings, manage and resolve stressful thoughts and behaviors related to the trauma. TF-CBT can enhance safety, parenting skills, and family communication.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- EMDR is a specialized type of therapy which is effective in treating trauma. While briefly focusing on trauma or difficult memories, an individual undergoes bilateral stimulation (which typically involves eye movements.) This approach can reduce in the vividness and emotional intensity of traumatic memories.
- We have four therapists who are trained in EMDR and one therapist is that is certified in and an approved EMDR consultant through EMDRIA. We offer EMDR therapy as well as supervision.
Critical Incident Stress Management & Debriefing (CISM)
- Our therapists are trained to respond during crisis events. We also work with clients throughout crisis timeline.
Mind and Body Bridging (MBB)
- Exposure to trauma can cause the flight/fight/freeze mechanisms within our brains to become reactive and sensitive, causing our bodies to continue to feel a threat, even when one is not present. However, the brain has internal mechanisms for healing itself, just like every other muscle and organ. Mind and Body Bridging uses techniques to help individuals return to a natural state of being and allow the brain to heal itself and trauma through gentle and noninvasive methods.
Behavior-Focused Therapies (e.g. parenting, emotion regulation, reduction of self-harm and addictive behaviors, etc):
- Behavioral problems can stem from a wide variety of sources. Our therapists are trained to conduct thorough assessment and assure each individual is provided (or referred to) the appropriate level of care. We create individualized, strengths focused, and effective treatment plans for each person we serve.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- CBT is based on the idea that our thoughts cause our feelings & behaviors, not external things, like people, situations, & events. When an individual realizes this, they can change the way they think & learn to feel & act better differently (even if the situation doesn’t change.) Our therapists believe that CBT is a productive therapy for all ages and can help in brief solution-focused therapy.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
-
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is a type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which helps individuals identify and change negative thinking and behavioral patterns. As part of this intensive approach, the individual and therapist collaboratively and strategically develop behavioral plans to change ineffective behaviors and conditioned responses. -
DBT emphasizes philosophies bringing together both acceptance and change. This creates long lasting and positive changes. -
Many of our therapists are trained and certified in these approaches. And, while 4 Healing Center is not a comprehensive DBT program, we often offer therapeutic groups which teach the core skills associated with DBT.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is a unique psychological approach focusing on mindfulness strategies, together with commitment and behavior change strategies. Together, these methods increase psychological flexibility, connecting a person to the moment and their identity.
- ACT seeks to bring an individual’s attention to the language they use and how their self-dialogue can perpetuate unhelpful patterns and reactions. Through this method, clients are able to accept and manage their private events, recognize and commit to their values, and change behavior.
Experiential Techniques (Animal-Assisted & Play Therapy)
Experiential Techniques (Movement, Music, Nature, and Animals)
- Research indicates that incorporating elements such as animals, movement, play, music, art, and accessing nature not only makes therapy more enjoyable – it improves processing, retention, and the accessibility of therapy as well. Indeed, these techniques can improve therapeutic gains across the board.
- Our clinicians include a variety of experiential methods in their work, including sand & play therapy, expressive art therapy, dance, yoga, guided imagery, video game therapy, gardening and hiking, animal-assisted therapy, and more.
Animal-Assisted Interventions
- We have two Canine Companions Facility Dogs named Flower and Galaxy. They assist our two directors during their therapy sessions. They assists with EMDR, TF-CBT, Play Therapy, and many other types of treatment.
- We also offer Equine Assisted Therapy. Our equine therapists have training in PATH Intl. and EAGALA models of equine therapeutic approaches.
Play and Sand therapy
- We have multiple large play rooms where children and our therapists play during therapy. Sand trays, crafts, and toys help kids express their thoughts, feelings, and fears in ways that they would not naturally talk about it in an office setting. Oftentimes, play is the best way for children, and adults, to communicate.
